What you can specify

Prepare these inputs before opening the tool.
Material
Choose a steel or 316 stainless steel gas spring based on the operating environment and application requirements.
Rod and tube size
Select the main spring diameters. Available dimensions and compatible choices depend on the selected product construction.
Stroke and extended length
Enter the required travel and centre-to-centre extended lengths using metric or imperial units.
Force
Enter the required nominal force. If you do not know it, use the gas spring calculator before opening the configurator.
End connections
Specify the fitting at each end, including threads, eyelets, clevises, ball joints, ball sockets or rod-end bearings.
Operating options
Review speed, working temperature, damping, bleed-off valve, rod protection, locking protection and dust-boot needs.
Quantity and references
Add the required quantity and, when available, a Gemini part number or another manufacturer's part number.

How to configure a gas spring

Build the specification from its connection points inward.
  1. Choose both end connections

    Start with the way the spring connects to the application. Select the left and right end types and their relevant dimensions.

  2. Define the spring

    Choose units and material, then enter the rod and tube size, stroke, extended lengths and required force.

  3. Add options and references

    Record the operating options, accessories, quantity and any known Gemini or competitor part number for review.

  4. Send the specification to Gemini

    Complete the configurator workflow so Gemini can review compatibility, availability and application requirements with you.

Match the spring to its environment

The same dimensions can require different materials and operating options.

A spring specification includes more than length and force. Temperature, moisture, contamination, extension speed, damping and protection around the rod can all affect the appropriate construction.

What information do I need to configure a gas spring?
Prepare the material, rod and tube size, stroke, extended length, nominal force and the required connection at each end. Also note the operating temperature, damping, protective accessories, quantity and any known part number.
Can the configurator determine the gas spring force for me?
The configurator expects a force value. If you are sizing a compression spring for a rigid hinged door or flap, use Gemini's gas spring calculator first and carry the preliminary result into the configurator.
Can I enter another manufacturer's part number?
Yes. The configurator includes an optional field for another brand's part number. Gemini still needs to verify dimensions, force, fittings and operating requirements before confirming a replacement.
Does completing the configurator approve the spring for installation?
No. The configurator organizes a specification for review. Gemini must confirm product compatibility, mounting, operating conditions and safety requirements before the spring is ordered or installed.
