Custom Gas Springs for Industrial Equipment

Engineer the complete movement

Force, length and stroke only make sense in the context of the whole assembly.

Machine builders use gas springs on guards, inspection doors, control boxes, ventilation panels and other hinged assemblies. The useful question is not simply how much the panel weighs, but how that weight acts around the hinge at every point in the movement. Mounting position, available stroke and the desired operating effort all interact.

A new OEM design can be reviewed from drawings that show the hinge, centre of gravity and candidate mounting points. A replacement project benefits from the same information plus photographs, existing part markings and measured extended and compressed lengths. In both cases, include the required quantity and expected production or maintenance schedule.

The surrounding machine defines the final requirements. Identify exposure to dust, oil, moisture, cleaning, heat or cold, and state whether the component must provide free movement, intermediate positioning or damping.
